Reading of Riley and the Sleeping Dragon at Caroline Chisolm Junior Campus, Canberra

19 March 2009

Caroline Chisholm Junior Campus

Canberra

It was a great pleasure to read to the grade 4/5 kids of Caroline Chisholm primary school, who are completing a unit on writing picture books. We had so much fun, I was invited back to read to younger grades!

The kids had fantastic questions and were so polite and welcoming. I wish the kids the best luck on their storytelling journey! and do hope to be invited back to see the books they will write, in publication.

Special thanks to the wonderful and book-loving Irene Ovchinnikov, teacher-librarian, for being so generous with her time and for sorting out a wonderful book signing opportunity at the school. So fabulous to know these kids will enjoy Riley and the Sleeping Dragon for a long time to come.

Reading of Riley and the Sleeping Dragon at St Monica's Primary

10 March 2009

St Monica's Primary School

Canberra

I had such a lovely time reading to the wonderful students at St Monica's, who gave me the most fabulous welcome.

There was even an autograph hunt afterwards, and I received the most treasured thing just as I was leaving... a small note from a young boy saying "you rock". What more could an author want?

Huge thanks to Rachael Hind who has been so informative and supportive, organizing such a lovely book reading and signing. Rachael is also the Author Visits Coordinator for the Children's Book Council in the ACT, and has kindly helped me coordinate visits to school during Book Week in August.
