Handmade Market Book Signing

What a wonderful Handmade Market experience at the National Convention Centre on Saturday - and so exciting to reveal the next book in the Riley series - Riley and the Grumpy Wombat: A journey around Melbourne.

Kieron had only just sketched up my beautiful wombat - just days before the event, so I couldn't resist showing this sneak peek to Handmade customers. And the response was fantastic! Everyone is so looking forward to meeting this wombat - and yes, she's grumpy alright!

I'm also thrilled to reveal that the next book in the Riley series has been taken over by Ford Street Publishing and I'm busy working with the glorious Paul Collins and his team to get this book on the shelves earlier than usual. So keep an eye on this space - it's another fantastical Riley adventure!

Book Signing at Handmade Market

Don't miss Handmade Market in its brand new venue - the National Convention Centre in the heart of Canberra - a fantastic venue with loads of facilities and parking - and of course, the best of handmade talent from Canberra and around the countryside.

I will be hosting the handmade living stall and signing books - come along and snaffle your copy. You can then trawl the market and have your book signed by any one of the book's featured designers!! I'll also have my Riley books for sale, including the new Riley and the Curious Koala: A journey around Sydney.

Hope to see you there!

What People are Saying about Riley and the Curious Koala

It's a superb book and a brilliant series concept - can think of a least a dozen kids I'd love to give it to who'd get so much from it. - author Jackie French

Like its predecessors, this new Riley book is filled with stunning photographs and bright, vibrant illustrations, that just work so well together. As always the text is lively and full of interesting words that little ears soak up into growing vocabularies (and when you see more of McCartney's work, you'll come to know that this is one of her trademarks). - writer Megan Blandford

Riley and the Curious Koala would make an excellent choice as a gift for a child who lives in another country, especially one who's about to visit Australia. It introduces kids to the sights of Sydney and to many native Australian, as well as exotic animals. This also makes it a good choice for schools doing units on Australia. - The Book Chook

The Riley travel adventures are a wonderful way to introduce young readers to the cities of Beijing, Hong Kong and Sydney. The photographs showing various locations about these cities provide a wonderful backdrop to Riley’s fun adventures. The text is very descriptive, offering very appealing account the characters and locations Riley encounters on his travels. - Susan Whelan, Suite 1010

Tania McCartney has written this story well, she uses fun descriptions and encourages thinking. I love the illustrations by Kieron Pratt, they are gorgeous and dare I say ready for their own TV show! A great effect, highly appealing visually and the story is a delight. - Angela Hall, Bug in a Book
